Weißmann set up the Institut für Staatspolitik with Götz Kubitschek. He could do so not only with a well-developed ideological body of his own work on the themes of German identity and the Young Conservatives, but also with significant experience in the organisation and dissemination of written work and in networking. Before setting up IfS‘ in-house journal Sezession – until 2014 he was co-editor of the journal – he wrote for Criticón und MUT (1987–1992). He was also a frequent guest at New Right and Old Right organisations, such as the Junge Landsmannschaft Ostpreußen, the Studienzentrum Weikersheim, the Deutsche Unitarier Religionsgemeinschaft, the Bismarckbund and the Deutschland-Bewegung of Alfred Mechtersheimer.
