Pierre Jonckheer, born in 1951 is member of the Belgian French-speaking Green party, Ecolo and of the European Green Party. He was independent scientist (1981-1985), researcher (1986-1989) and director (1989-1991) of the European Social Observatory (OSE) in Brussels. Jonckheer was MEP from 1999 until 2009. He is closely linked to The Greens/ European Free Alliance in the European Parliament and to Étopia centre d'animation et de recherche en écologie politique, where he was a former board member. Currently he is an invited lecturer at the Catholic University of Louvain.
