Was founded by the labour government under Blair as NESTA - National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts with the status of an non-departmental public body, in 2011 converted into a charity[1] and in 2012 renamed to Nesta.

Organizational Structure and Funding

At its start Nesta was endowed with 250.000.000 pounds out of national lottery funds. In 2011 the endowment was valued at 351.000.000 pounds. Nesta finances its operations out of the proceeds of this funds.
